For a long time, being able to speak French was a sign of nobility and worldliness. Still today, the French language is the epitome of elegance, good taste and courtesy. It is also an exquisite pleasure to learn (French). Granted, the language does have a few hurdles and pitfalls. But they are worthwhile to overcome, because beyond them is the art of savoir-vivre (good manners), of which one can never have enough.
